Your Sample Itinerary

Group of three travellers in the forest looking over a lookout point

Central Station forest discovery

Your local guide will lead you through the thick canopies and towering giants of Central Station. Gaze up at lush satinays, some of the biggest trees on K'gari, spotting gorgeous birdlife and shy reptiles on your rainforest journey. Learn about these thriving ecosystems and immerse yourself in the tranquillity of nature.

A woman in front of the blue waters of Lake Boorangoora (Mackanzie) on a sunny day

Lake Mackenzie unwinding

Lake Boorangoora (Lake Mackenzie) is a serious heaven on earth, with crystal clear waters of contrasting sapphire and aquamarine colours! While it may feel like you're at the beach, these waters are freshwater and so pure! Cool off, float away and make a splash in this forest-lined beachy lake!

The coastline of Champagne pools with people swimming

Champagne Pools & Tukee Wuroo

Coastal views and natural spa treatments await! Take a dip in the salty fairy pools and unwind as mother nature and luxury treat you to a day under the sun! Then, make the trek up to Tukee wurroo, where you can see the entire sprawling K'gari coastline. With your intimate group and beachy wonders at your fingertips, you won't miss these local secret spots on your two-day trip.

Eli Creek waters and boardwalk

Discover Lake Wabby, Eli Creek & Basin Lake

Get off the beaten path and discover more gem-coloured lakes of K'gari, as your local guide shows you the lesser-known local favourites of the island. Lake Wabby's green waters have a lot of significance to the local Butchulla people, so go and check-out the shores and experience nature's beauty! Then, take a relaxing dip in Eli Creek, a gorgeous eucalyptus-lined freshwater stream that gently flows out to sea!

Three backpackers watching the Maheno Shipwreck sunrise

Maheno Shipwreck histories

Stop by at the stunning SS Maheno Shipwreck for an afternoon of nautical histories and mysteries! Over 70 years ago, the sailing vessel wrecked on the K'gari beach and has been a charming landmark ever since. Your guide will let you in on the interesting past and take a group shot in front of this golden sight!

A buffet spread with curries, rice at the hotel

Eurong Resort stay

FAQs

Is drinking water provided?

Yes, and it is recommended to bring your own refillable water bottle. There is a water refill station on the bus, and there is fresh drinking water at K'gari Beach Resort.

How many bags can we bring?

Travellers are allowed to bring up to 2 bags, weighing 25kg total. We recommend bringing a small day bag to keep with you on the bus, and you can store a larger bag in the cargo hold below.

Can we start and finish the tour at different locations?

It is recommended to start and end your tour at the same location in Hervey Bay. Each K'gari Explorer tour runs a different itinerary based on the tides, so if you were to swap tours in the hopes of returning to Rainbow Beach or elsewhere, you may end up repeating some activities.

Is there an age restriction for this tour?

Anyone over the age of 1 can join this tour! But it is recommended to be relatively fit and healthy. The terrain on K'gari is pretty rough and bumpy, so it is not always recommended for those who are pregnant. If you're unsure about whether this tour is suitable for you, live chat with us in the chat box and our travel experts will help you decide!

Are car seats provided for young children?

You must bring your own forward-facing car seat for all children under age 7.

Can my dietary requirements be catered for?

Meals are buffet style and there are options for all types of diets. If you have specific allergies, please advise us upon booking.

Are all meals included?

Breakfast and lunches are included. Dinner is at your own expense, and there is a great restaurant at K'gari Beach Resort where you can purchase a delicious dinner.

We loved every minute of our trip aboard the Adventurer. Jamie was a great skipper and we enjoyed raising the sails and exploring different parts of the whitsundays. El was equally fab as first mate and did her tasks seamlessly whilst also dishing up amazing food! We cannot recommend highly enough!!

Hayden was the bomb. I loved his scientific knowledge of the island; even when I thought I could stump with a questions about an animal, a vegetable or a mineral, he was equal to it. And funny. And the food at K’gari resort in Eurong was great.

We loved our tour! David was excellent, and we felt really confident in his driving skills. Just a little too much time swimming at some spots. Food was excellent at the resort! Would have enjoyed a guided night nature walk to spot wildlife, if offered.

It was an amazing experience. The island was beautiful. Wayne was a really good tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and talkative. He was also good at organising everything. The hotel was good too. I already started to recommend to people around me.
