The surf’s up and the sun’s out, so get in the water and have some fun! Discover Byron Bay like a real local and learn to surf with leading teachers. Rolling waves will cultivate a classroom like no other! Your awesome half-day lesson includes a professional surf instructor, board, return transport and a wetsuit (if needed).
In four hours you will get kitted out with a board and wettie in the winter, shake it out with a beach stretch and learn the basics on the shore before hitting the waves. With a small group, a hands-on instructor and plenty of time to get comfortable with your new skills in the water, you will be surfing in no time. From your Byron digs to the BeachReturn shuttle bus transport is included in the cost of your surf lesson, so enjoy the ease of rolling from bed to beach! The shuttle bus is available for pickup from most major hostels in Byron Bay, so check your pick-up time and make your way to the nearest pickup point. You’re heading straight for a beginner-friendly surf spot! |

Grab your board and gear upYour instructor will help you pick a board perfect for your ability and height, so you can head out to the waves in confidence! If you’re surfing in the cooler months, you will also be fitted up for a wetsuit to keep you nice and toasty. |

Stretch and safety on the sandOnce you have your gear, feel the sand in your toes as your instructor takes you through some light stretches on the beach. You will also get an intro rundown of surfing safety, surf etiquette and a few basic techniques before you get in the water! |

Lesson 1: Let’s surf!It’s time to hit the water, where most of your lesson will be spent! With awesome waves for beginners chosen specifically by your teacher, get out there and catch your first waves. Your instructor will support you, give you tips and help you nail the pop-up. You’ll be standing up and surfing in no time! |

Lesson 2: Progressive learning & standing up!Opt for the two-lesson progressive learning package and ensure you really have the skills you have learnt down pat! With another three to four hours of learning, surfing and practising, you can perfect your paddle and try again, and again, to get a bit more control! This option is recommended for total beginners or those looking to deepen their understanding of surfing. |
