The Maheno Shipwreck with a person in white walking

Maheno Shipwreck

The SS Maheno washed up on the shores of K’gari over 50 years ago and has been a unique and unmissable K’gari destination ever since! The rustic arches and battered hull of this vessel tell a story of mesmerising nautical past and make for a stunning photo stop; particularly at golden hour!

Beach 4WDing

Ready, set, zoom down the golden 75 Mile Beach! 4WD cars are the only mode of transport on K’gari, so experience the thrill of driving down the beach like a local Aussie. Keep an eye out for local wongari, or dingoes, on the shores as you make your way to your next destination!

Blue waters of Lake Boorangoora (Mackanzie) on a sunny day

Lake Mackenzie & Eli Creek

Let Lake Boorangoora (Lake Mackenzie) take your breath away as you step barefoot onto the sandy shores of this cool and refreshing pool! With a crisp definition of aquamarine and deep blue waters, make a splash in this awesome spot that looks like a beach but is actually freshwater!

Home to vast rainforests and bush, K’gari is an idyllic island for a tropical hike! Let your guide take you through lush forests of satinays, gorgeous palms and towering tallowoods. Keep your ears out for rare birdlife as you breathe easy in endless tranquil greenery.

Such a fun trip, one of the best things I have done on my trip down the East Coast! The days were packed with activities, so we got to see a lot! Our guide Brock gave amazing instructions on how to drive the cars so the driving went super smoothly. Food was good and the campsite was great!

Was good fun and glad I got to visit the island. However, we could have definitely fit in a lot more and the trip was not worth the money.

I really liked the trip, Fraser Island is gorgeous. The tour guide was a cool guy, he organised everything, answered every question and always had a joke to tell. The group experience was nice, I liked that we had to organise the food at the campground by ourselves. The food was really good.

Can't fault our tour leader, Pete, who was really knowledgeable, laidback, and very funny. Definitely not enough food supplied, and also lack of pillows/sleep mats so I don't think the tour is great value for money. But Pete was a legend and the island itself is magical so it was mostly worth it.
