FAQs
How many people fit in one plane?
Ocean rafting has two different types of planes: one with 7 seats for guests, and the other with 11. Both are roomy, comfortable and feature guaranteed window seats, so get ready for dreamy island panoramas with an excellent view.
Can I do the flight while I am pregnant?
Yes, you can. From start to landing, the flight is very smooth and lasts for an hour. However, if you're in doubt about your own personal flying condition, consult your doctor.
Is there a toilet onboard?
There are no toilets on the plane during the hour you're onboard. However, there is a bathroom in the airport that you can use before and after your flight.
Can I bring my luggage?
There is not much space in the plane, so you can only bring a small selection of personal items onboard (phone, camera, water bottle). If you need to though, you can store your luggage in one of the lockers at the airport, or drop them at our Airlie Beach Bag Storage prior to your tour.
Do I have time to eat something at the airport?
You won't have time to eat something from one of the airport cafes prior to boarding. We recommend eating before your trip or ordering something after your flight to eat on the way back.
Will I see anything on a cloudy day?
Yes! The plane flies under the clouds, so you can view the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands even on an overcast day.
Can I chat on the plane?
Will air pressure be a problem?
While every passenger is different, the air pressure change isn't too intense. However, if you are recovering from ear surgery, or have been scuba-diving within 12 hours of your flight, consult your doctor to check that this experience is suitable for you.
Will I get airsick?
Your scenic flight team and pilot pride themselves on offering a smooth, comfortable journey over the stunning Whitsunday Islands, and the vast majority of guests have no problems at all! However, there are sick bags provided for the worst-case scenario!
Can I stand up and walk around during the flight?
No, you can't stand up and move around the plane while you're in the air. But, you'll probably be glued to your panoramic window, taking in views of island havens, turquoise waters and reef marinelife like whales, dolphins and coral gardens!

Was crazy good, i first didn’t want to do it, but I don’t regret at all being push by my wife. The life was crazy, even from up there we were able to see many things : turtle, sharks (hammerhead), so many whales (calf and the mum), even dugong and manta ray. The reef looks unreal from the sky.

The took the panorama tour as part of a package booked a couple of months ago. We flew with a small propeller plane which could seat 6 people. The pilot was very knowledgeable and made our 1-hour ride very fun! We saw The Great Barrier Reef and the Heart Reef as well. Amazing experience!

Had such an amazing time on the scenic flight! It was so breathtaking to see the heart reef and beautiful Whitsunday Islands from above. Definitely a bucket list activity! Would highly recommend.

This tour is one of the best things you can do in the Whitsundays. The flight to heart reef was absolutely magical. We got a perfect morning for our flight, without a single cloud in the sky. Our pilot Alex was so friendly and warm, and made every effort to ensure we saw everything and had a comfortable trip. Plus, the whole Ocean Rafting team were so accommodating and organised. If you want to really appreciate the beauty of the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef, this tour is a must-do!

The best thing we have ever experienced. Never been in a small plane before - very apprehensive - but loved it. The flight allowed us to see Hill Inlet & Heart of the Reef at lowish tide. The way most pictures of these 2 places are published. None of the boat tours had the right times - dumb.

Amazing!! From pick up to drop off, it was great customer service. Definitely glad that Sailing Whitsunday recommended this flight as it was only a short bus to the airport and the flight went straight out over the water so blue views were maximised. Just the absolute flight of a lifetime.
