FAQs
How many people fit in one plane?
Ocean rafting has two different types of planes: one with 7 seats for guests, and the other with 11. Both are roomy, comfortable and feature guaranteed window seats, so get ready for dreamy island panoramas with an excellent view.
Can I do the flight while I am pregnant?
Yes, you can. From start to landing, the flight is very smooth and lasts for an hour. However, if you're in doubt about your own personal flying condition, consult your doctor.
Is there a toilet onboard?
There are no toilets on the plane during the hour you're onboard. However, there is a bathroom in the airport that you can use before and after your flight.
Can I bring my luggage?
There is not much space in the plane, so you can only bring a small selection of personal items onboard (phone, camera, water bottle). If you need to though, you can store your luggage in one of the lockers at the airport, or drop them at our Airlie Beach Bag Storage prior to your tour.
Do I have time to eat something at the airport?
You won't have time to eat something from one of the airport cafes prior to boarding. We recommend eating before your trip or ordering something after your flight to eat on the way back.
Will I see anything on a cloudy day?
Yes! The plane flies under the clouds, so you can view the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsunday Islands even on an overcast day.
Can I chat on the plane?
Will air pressure be a problem?
While every passenger is different, the air pressure change isn't too intense. However, if you are recovering from ear surgery, or have been scuba-diving within 12 hours of your flight, consult your doctor to check that this experience is suitable for you.
Will I get airsick?
Your scenic flight team and pilot pride themselves on offering a smooth, comfortable journey over the stunning Whitsunday Islands, and the vast majority of guests have no problems at all! However, there are sick bags provided for the worst-case scenario!
Can I stand up and walk around during the flight?
No, you can't stand up and move around the plane while you're in the air. But, you'll probably be glued to your panoramic window, taking in views of island havens, turquoise waters and reef marinelife like whales, dolphins and coral gardens!

I spent an amazing morning on the 1-hour scenic flight. The staff were extremely organized, and friendly! We flew over the islands, and dipped down to see Whitehaven beach to start. It was absolutely beautiful from above. After viewing the Whitsundays, we flew to the outer Great Barrier Reef. Looking over the reef was breathtaking.

Absolutely awesome. Stunning views. The islands and whitehaven beach surrounded by turquoise water is a must do in my opinion. I especially loved the heart reef.

A good comfortable flight. I was on my honeymoon seated on the wing which blocked the view for me to take photos.

The most incredible experience I have ever had in my life! I really cannot recommend this tour enough. Myself and 5 friends did a Scenic Flight for my friends birthday. The trip was just perfect all the way from booking through Sailing Whitsundays. We flew with Ocean Rafting which was great because they provide complimentary transfers all the way from Cannonvale to the Airport which is only 10 minutes away! Our pilot Ben was super funny and enthusiastic considering it was the first flight of the day! He was very knowledgeable about all of the islands around the Whitsundays as well as the reef and I feel as though I have learnt a lot even though I was only in the plane with him for an hour! Then the magic happened... we flew over the incredible Whitehaven Beach and a further 10 minutes over Heart Reef. We saw whales from the plane and the experience just could not have been better overall. You MUST do a scenic flight with Ocean Rafting if you come to the Whitsundays, it really was an experience of a lifetime and I would recommend it to everyone and anyone! Thank you Sailing Whitsundays and Ocean Rafting!
