Spend a whole month surfing, swimming, sailing and chilling amongst some of the most gorgeous corners of the East Coast. And, in between the fun, gain access to the Oz Jobs Program, where your trusty locals will give you a hand with sorting your farmwork, superannuation, tax file number and sim card.

Spend sunny days in Sydney, Byron Bay, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Noosa, K’gari (Fraser Island), Airlie Beach, Magnetic Island, Mission Beach and Cairns. You really won’t miss any of the East Coast’s wonders on this seamless, fun and social trip. Your small group of like-minded backpackers and gap-year takers complete this trip, as you stay in hostels and resorts. All transport from Sydney to Cairns is included and sorted, so you can sit back, get your tan on, and enjoy the ride!

Touch down down under, and be welcomed by your easy-peasy airport transfer to your central Sydney hostel. You have two days in the iconic Sydney City, with a guided Bondi Beach to Coogee Coastal walk, inner-city and harbour tour and beachside BBQ all included! Meet like-minded travellers, adjust to the timezone difference and get your photos by the Sydney Opera House!

Hit the beach in gorgeous Byron Bay: Australia’s beloved surfer town, renowned for its laid-back atmosphere, stunning nature and holistic side. During three days, you will learn to catch waves with a surf lesson and board hire all organised for your arrival! Explore the colourful town, catch some live surf rock at a nearby pub and unwind by the ocean or pool! Your guide will lead you up to the stunning Byron Bay lighthouse for an unforgettable sunrise, followed by a yoga lesson. You’ll be glowing and breathing easy… just like a Byron Bay local!

With two days in this iconic destination where city and beach life meet, revel in an awesome nightlife scene AND pristine beaches! Head out on an excellent guided SUP lesson and tour to experience the wonder of the ocean from a new perspective! With plenty of free time in Surfers Paradise, hang out with new mates at the beach, hire a surfboard, chill out by the hostel pool, wander along the boardwalk and explore the CBD in this laid-back backpacker realm!

Brisbane City explorin'

From the river to the city lights, Queensland’s capital Brisbane is a vibrant hub of things to do and sights to see. Your guide will lead you on a tour of the Brisbane CBD and Southbank. Spend your time shacking up on the sands of Streets Beach (the perfect free swimming spot in the middle of the city) with the rest of your group. Your hostel is in the Fortitude Valley neighbourhood, home to Brisbane’s very best live music and nightlife - so bust out your good shoes and let the music take control!

Day 11 - 15

Noosa & K’gari (Fraser Island) 4WD Camping

Your next leg is in the Sunshine Coast region, where exquisite beaches are everywhere! Arrive for an afternoon in Noosa, where you can spend the sunset at Noosa Main Beach for seriously exquisite views. On day 12, your K’gari (Fraser Island) adventure begins! Make the bus and ferry journey over to the world’s largest sand island, K’gari, renowned for its local dingo population and beautiful natural wonders. This three-day, two-night backpacker tour will have you four-wheel driving down beaches, swimming in Lake Mackenzie, camping by the ocean and immersing yourself in ancient rainforests. With a pre-set yup campsite and all food included, learn about the rich Butchulla history and natural magic found on K’gari with your local guide. Return to Noosa, with a day in the Noosa National Park led by your group leader!

Venture north and wake up in the tropical Airlie Beach! The gateway to the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef, this bustling town is renowned as a social backpacker hub. Spend a night in a local hostel and cool down in the local Lagoon by the bay, before heading out to sea on day 17! Your grand, comfortable sailing ship will deliver you to exquisite islands and snorkelling spots in style. Spend two days and two nights amongst the gorgeous Whitsunday Island seascapes, equipped with water toys galore. Dive into the Great Barrier Reef, sink your toes into some of the whitest sands in the world at Whitehaven Beach and gaze out at the iconic Hill Inlet Lookout! All food, snorkel gear and experiences are included, so sit back and unwind for a sunset beer on deck! Return to Airlie for an afterparty on the town with your new mates, there’s always something happening here!

Get off the beaten path up north with a visit to the gorgeous Magnetic Island! Catch the ferry from Townsville, and be welcomed by crystal-clear waters, hidden bays and relaxed atmospheres. You’ll be staying in a beachfront hut at a hostel, with a guided adventure through Forts Walk organised. Keep your eyes up in the trees to spot koalas and down to sight adorable rock wallabies. There is a lot of time for flexibility on Maggie Island, with options to visit the local koala rehabilitation centre or rent a car to explore the further corners and secret beaches!

    From one tropical gem to another, explore Mission Beach’s wondrous nature and coast! Here, you have the option to add on an activity for an extra cost, or simply enjoy some downtime! Take the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to skydive with a beach landing. Mission Beach is one of the best places to skydive in Australia, so get the adrenaline pumping with this vista-filled experience! 3, 2, 1, Geronimo! Or, if you’re not keen for the skydive, opt for a whitewater rafting trip through the rainforest-lined Tully River rapids.

    Day 24 - 28

    Arrive to your final destination, Cairns, a vibrant and beautiful hub of Far North QLD. Home to the Great Barrier Reef, Atherton Tablelands, Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation, there is an abundance of native magic to experience. Your group will head out to some of the most breathtaking snorkelling spots, where you will swim amongst coral gardens, schools of fish, giant clams and even sea turtles! You will also head out to the stunning Atherton Tablelands on a waterfall circuit, where you will swim in cascade pools and slide down dormant volcanic rocks. Your adventure is wrapped up here with a farewell dinner, as you head on to your next East Coast gap year work or plans!

    Is there a tour guide?

    Yes, this experience is fully guided. So a tour leader will be there to guide the group along the way!

    Where will I stay?

    You'll have 27 nights of accommodation that varies between shared hostel dorm room, overnight buses, and overnight tour accommodations. 

    What meals are included?

    24 meals (8 breaky, 8 lunch, 8 dinner) are included in your itinerary. 

    Can my dietary requirements be catered for?

    Yes, but please let your travel agent know as soon as possible about any dietary requirements. This gives us time to contact tour operators and ensure your dietaries can be accommodated where possible. Small fees may apply for special diets on some tours. 

    What transport is included?

    All transport from Sydney to Cairns via comfy coach bus is included!

    Who will I travel with?

    You will travel with a small, fun group of other adventure travellers aged 18 and over, and of course, your group leader.

    Will this experience help me find a job?

    This tour provides access to the Oz Jobs Program which helps backpackers find farm work, regional work & other backpacker jobs. The team will also make the process easier for you by helping set up your SIM, TFN, medicare, bank account and superannuation. All of this makes the job-search process smoother!
