What bag to bring?

True to its name, backpacking is colossally easier with a good, medium-sized hiking backpack. Allowing you to traipse through town, take all of your luggage on your tours and run for the next bus easily, ditch the clunky suitcase for a portable, comfortable backpack option and travel lightly. But, if you can’t commit to the minimalist backpacker lifestyle, opt for a medium-sized suitcase. However, be prepared to invest time and money into finding local luggage storage options before your tours if this is the (suit)case!

A lot of boat, island and adventure tours only allow small, soft and sometimes zipperless bags, so remember to check your ticket information to prepare accordingly before each trip.
