Adventure through the ancient landscapes of the world's largest sand island with K'gari Safari! This 3-day, 2-night tour compiles all the most gorgeous sights on K'gari (Fraser Island) into one action-packed itinerary. Perfect for backpackers, this exciting and social tour allows you to immerse yourself in K'gari's stunning rainforests, lakes, and beaches.
By day you'll explore the natural wonders of K'gari, such as Lake McKenzie, Central Station, Champagne Pools, Eli Creek, Lake Wabby, and more. By night you can cosy up with your fellow travellers at the pre-set-up campsite that is just steps away from the beach. You can also sign up to be a driver and navigate your own 4WD across the island's sandy tracks. It's the ultimate K'gari experience!
Flexible itinerary with four-wheel-drivingK'gari Safari's tag along tour is an adventurous expedition around the world's largest sand island. Each itinerary is unique, as the tour guides must pick the attractions based on the tides that day. The tour guide will lead the group in their own 4WD, with a convoy of the other 4WD vehicles following behind. Those who wish to drive can get behind the wheel and experience the thrill of driving on 75 Mile Beach! |

Swim in stunning lakesK'gari is known for its pristine freshwater lakes. During your K'gari Safari tour, you'll get to visit two of the most famous: Lake McKenzie and Lake Wabby. Lake McKenzie has some of Australia's softest, whitest sand and clearest water! Enjoy every moment of swimming in this gorgeous slice of paradise. Lake Wabby has a beautiful emerald hue and is surrounded by the golden sand dunes of the Hammerstone Sand Blow. Both lakes are incredibly scenic and are glorious for a swim! |
|
See coastal wondersAs you travel along the Eastern Beach of K'gari, you'll get to stop at some of the famous landmarks along the way. Check out the historic Maheno Shipwreck that sits on the edge of the ocean and admire the lengthy strip of golden sand that is 75 Mile Beach. Walk a few steps inland from the shore and find Eli Creek, a crystal-clear, fast-flowing creek where you can grab an inflatable and drift through the forest. You'll also head up north and have the chance to swim in the salt water at the spectacular rock pools known as Champagne Pools. |
|
Stroll through the rainforestK'gari's rainforests are unique because of the gigantic trees that manage to grow out of sand! Visit Central Station and see these huge, powerful trees up close. With sandy floors and lush green canopies that stretch sky-high, K'gari's rainforests are like something out of a fairy tale. Stroll along the wooden boardwalk at Central Station and learn about the rare flora and fauna that thrive on the island. |

Beachside campingK'gari Safari's exclusive campsite is the perfect place to wind down after a day of adventures! Complete with a dingo-proof fence, 4-person tents, innerspring mattresses, hot showers, flushing toilets, and a general store for your convenience, the safari-style campsite combines nature with some modern comforts. It's also one of the few places on K'gari where campfires are allowed, so enjoy some heartwarming bonding sessions around the campfire in the evenings with your new mates. |

Koala Bar afterpartyReturn to Nomads Noosa after your K'gari tour and continue the fun! This tour includes a sweet post-tour afterparty at Koala Bar (KB’s by the locals) at the hostel. So before continuing on your East Coast journey, consider spending another day or two in Noosa to party and explore the area before departing. |
Please read our terms, conditions and cancellation policies before booking your East Coast adventure.
4 people.
Campfires are allowed at K'gari Safari's private campsite in the designated areas. You can purchase firewood at Nomads Noosa before departure. However, the campsite is subject to QLD Government rules, so if a total fire ban is in place, there will be no campfires.
K'gari has limited cell phone and internet reception all over the island. The campsite also does not have wifi, so take advantage of this opportunity to disconnect! 4WD vehicles have radios so you can communicate with your tour guide.
Travellers must be at least 18 years of age to book this tour.
If you choose to add pre or post-tour accommodation at Nomads, you will be staying in a 16-bed mixed shared dorm room with an ensuite.
Due to limited space in the 4WDs, each passenger should only bring a small, soft backpack. Excess luggage can be stored at your accommodation in Noosa or Rainbow Beach.
There is a compulsory briefing before the tour at Nomads Noosa the night before departure. It will be held in KB’s Bar from 6:30 pm - 7:15 pm. If opting for a Rainbow Beach pick-up, please notify K'gari Safari at the time of booking.
